“Your Parents’ Blessings Are Your Future,” Says RCCG’s General Overseer
THE General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged Nigerian youths to take care of their aged parents. Speaking during the July Thanksgiving service at the RCCG headquarters in Ebute-Metta, which had the theme “The Heirs of God,” Adeboye emphasized the importance of honoring one’s parents.
Preaching online from Mount Camel in Ifewara, Osun State, the revered cleric cautioned against abandoning parents in their old age, stressing that such actions reflect negatively on the children. Adeboye highlighted the positive impact of his mother’s blessings on his life, noting that being dutiful to parents attracts both physical and spiritual blessings.
In his words: “Those of you who have had the opportunity of being blessed by your biological parents, I congratulate you because their blessings would last. Younger ones, make sure you take good care of your parents because if they bless you, you will be blessed. What I am today is by the special grace of God and the blessing of my mum. Anytime I pleased her, she would pray for me, saying, ‘You this boy, you will call one person and two hundred would answer.’ Today, if I say pastor, come, more than 200 pastors would turn around.”
Addressing journalists after the programme, Pastor Dele Balogun, the Regional Pastor in charge of Region 1, called for national repentance amidst the various challenges confronting Nigeria. He assured that if the nation turned to God, He would heal Nigeria. “I strongly believe there is a glorious future for us as a nation. We should not join those who say our future is bleak. Once God is on our side, tomorrow Nigeria will be alright,” he stated.
