Ijebu-Jesa in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State was filled with joy as the town’s indigenes joined Oba Moses Agunsoye, the Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, in the grand finale of the 2024 Egboro New Yam Festival.

The vibrant celebration featured processions to significant locales including the Ijiku residence, Agada, and the market square, alongside a special procession for hunters.

Traditional cultural dances added to the festive atmosphere as Oba Agunsoye blessed traders, farmers, hunters, and the entire Egboro land during the festivities.

The climax of the event took place at the IK Dairo Park, where the symbolic cooking and eating of the new yam occurred.

After partaking in the yam with palm oil and salt, Oba Agunsoye highlighted the festival’s significance: giving thanks for the past year’s blessings and praying for a bountiful harvest in the coming year.

He also called on the government to improve conditions for farmers, aiming to reduce the cost of farm produce and support agricultural productivity.
