Dear Fellow Ijesa Sons and Daughters, We are pleased to announce the upcoming 6th Ijesa Day Celebration in Lagos, scheduled to take place in June 2025. This annual event is a cherished tradition that brings our community together to celebrate our rich cultural heritage and promote unity among Ijesa people in Lagos and Ogun states.
Over the past three years, our Convener has tirelessly supported Iwude Ijesa, ensuring a stable foundation for our community before expanding outward. Today, Iwude Ijesa and the Ijesa Unity Carnival have become an integral part of our community’s identity, fostering a sense of pride and belonging among our people.
Notably, many Ijesa individuals who reside outside Ijesaland have expressed their desire to participate in the celebration. They have urged us not to discontinue the Lagos celebrations, as it provides a vital connection to their cultural roots.
We have been working closely with various Ijesa clubs, associations, and the Council of Ijesa in Lagos to ensure the continued success of this event.
Furthermore, the late Owa had given his blessing for the Ijesa Day Celebration to be held annually in Ijesaland, every June. We are hopeful that this event will soon be brought home.
In addition, we look forward to welcoming our newly installed King, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, to the throne. We are also eager to welcome his royal visit to the Ijesa Day Celebration in Lagos, where he will spend quality time with his sons and daughters outside the shores of Ijesaland.With these developments, our community will now have two opportunities to come together and celebrate our heritage each year.
We believe that this will strengthen our cultural ties, provide a platform for integration and unity, and foster a sense of belonging among all Ijesa people, regardless of their location.
