Owa Obokun Donates N5 Million to Support “Owa Akorede Asoludero” Movie Project by Ijesa Theatre Group

The Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup (Ajimoko III), has donated the sum of N5 million to support the production of a new cultural movie titled “Owa Akorede Asoludero.”

The movie project, initiated by the Ijesa Theatre Leaders and Elders Stars, popularly known as G.20, is aimed at promoting the rich cultural heritage of Ijesaland and highlighting the values of traditional leadership.

The donation was announced during a short presentation ceremony held in honour of the monarch on Sunday, where the group officially introduced the project.

The event attracted traditional leaders, cultural enthusiasts, and members of the creative industry from across Ijesaland.

In his remarks, Owa Haastrup reflected on the group’s earlier visit to him at Ipebi, where they shared their vision for the film.

He praised their dedication to cultural preservation and encouraged them to stay committed to their mission.

As a sign of his royal endorsement, the Owa Obokun pledged N5 million to support the ongoing production, which is expected to be launched officially on May 29, 2025.

He also offered prayers for the continued progress of the group.

Responding on behalf of the Ijesa Theatre Leaders and Elders Stars, the chairman, Prince Tunde Adeyemi, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the monarch.

He described Owa’s support as a major encouragement and reaffirmed the group’s resolve to keep using drama as a vehicle for preserving the cultural identity of Ijesaland.

Prince Adeyemi also prayed for a long, peaceful, and prosperous reign for the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.
