
Activities marking the 70th birthday anniversary of the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, commenced on a spiritual note on Friday with a special Jumat service held in Ilesa.
The Grand Chief Imam of Ijesaland, Sheikh Idris Jamiu Bakare, during the service, urged wealthy individuals to use their resources for community development and the upliftment of the less privileged.
Sheikh Bakare commended Chief Fasuyi for his selfless leadership and his contributions to the socio-economic growth of Ijesaland through collaborative efforts with other indigenes.
He listed some of the notable projects championed by the celebrant to include the construction of the new Owa’s Palace, the establishment of the Ijesa Geriatric Hospital, the creation of the University of Ilesa, and the enrolment of over 4,000 elderly citizens into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).











In his remarks, Chief Fasuyi expressed gratitude to God for His grace and to the people of Ijesaland for their support and confidence in his leadership.
He pledged to remain committed to the advancement of Ijesaland and to continue promoting unity and development across the region.
He also paid glowing tribute to Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup for his exemplary leadership and contributions to the progress of Ijesaland, describing him as a mentor and guiding light.
In separate goodwill messages, the President of Egbe Atunluse Ile Ijesa, Professor Olú Òbí, and the Treasurer of the Ijesa Community Development Assembly, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, described the celebrant as a visionary leader whose initiatives have inspired the ongoing renaissance in Ijesaland.
Later in the evening, Chief Fasuyi was hosted to a dinner by members of the prestigious Ijesa Sport Club, where the club’s President, Prince Kayode Arimoro, alongside Hon. Ategbero, Chief Akin Obi, and others, showered encomiums on the celebrant for his outstanding service to humanity.







The celebration continues on Saturday at the Ijesa Felate Club, where professional Ayo Olopon players will compete for the Asiwaju Fasuyi Trophy.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
