Veteran Journalist Remi Oyeyemi Installed As Agba-Akin of Egboroland

The Elégbòrò of Ègbòròland, Oba (Engr.) Moses Agúnsóyè, has conferred the prestigious chieftaincy title of Àgbà-Akin of Ègbòròland on Chief Remi Oyeyemi, a distinguished journalist, author, and community leader based in the United States of America.

The colourful installation ceremony took place on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Elégbòrò’s Palace, Ìjèbú-Jèsà, amid pomp and jubilation.

Chief Oyeyemi’s wife, Chief (Mrs.) Ajíke Oyeyemi, was also installed as the Yèyé Àgbà-Akin of Ègbòròland, in recognition of the Oyeyemi’s unwavering support and contributions to community development initiatives.

Chief Remi Oyeyemi, who recently authored the highly acclaimed book titled “Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi: The Passion of a Patriot,” has earned widespread respect across Ijesaland and beyond for his literary excellence, patriotism, and promotion of Ijesa heritage.

He also coordinated the Diasporans’ celebration of Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, mobilizing Ijesa indigenes abroad to honour the visionary community leader.

In his remarks, Oba Agúnsóyè praised Chief Oyeyemi for his passion for Ijesa progress, describing him as “a son of the soil who continues to project the name of Ègbòròland and Ijesaland on the global stage.”

The newly installed Àgbà-Akin, in his appreciation speech, expressed gratitude to the monarch and the people of Ègbòròland for the honour bestowed upon him and his wife.

He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting unity, integrity, and the socio-cultural advancement of Ijesaland.
