The Osun State Police Command has dismissed a viral Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated video circulating on social media alleging that bandits are on their way to Ilesa.
The Command described the claim as false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to incite fear and disrupt public peace.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the Command condemned the increasing spread of unverified information online, especially digitally manipulated content capable of causing panic among residents.
The Osun Police PRO urged members of the public to desist from generating, posting, or forwarding AI-created videos, images, or animations without verification, stressing that such actions could lead to unnecessary tension in the state.
To reassure residents, the Commissioner of Police has deployed both overt and covert operatives to Ilesa and other parts of the state to ensure adequate security and prevent any breakdown of law and order.
