Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has expressed serious concern over the rising wave of political violence in parts of the state, particularly across Ijesaland.
A statement by his Spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed said the Governor has directed the Commissioner of Police to immediately clamp down on political killings and restore peace to the affected communities.
The governor condemned the recent deadly attacks in Ilesa, urging politicians to shun thuggery and allow the will of the people to prevail.
According to him, genuine leaders must prioritize free and fair participation over bloodshed.
“If truly our goal is to serve the people, we must focus on the ballot and free exercise of electoral choices by our people. I urge the Commissioner of Police to secure the affected areas and stop further killings,” Adeleke stated.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Security Council has convened again to assess the state’s security situation and design new measures to protect residents from local and external threats.
Chaired by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi and attended by all service commanders, the meeting reviewed current operations and adopted strategies aimed at preventing infiltration by bandits and tackling domestic crime.
The Deputy Governor also conveyed Governor Adeleke’s commendation to the security agencies, expressing confidence that the enhanced security plan will further guarantee the safety of lives and property.
The council encouraged residents to support security operatives by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
In a related development, the state government has concluded arrangements to establish mobile courts comprising eight magistrates.
The initiative is part of efforts to decongest detention facilities and ensure that justice processes continue smoothly, especially during the ongoing judicial workers’ strike.
The mobile courts will handle overnight criminal activities, preliminary remand proceedings, and other essential matters.
Their establishment follows a letter from the Governor’s Legal Adviser, Nurudeen Kareem, to the Chief Judge of Osun State, highlighting the urgent need to prevent human rights violations and address security risks caused by overcrowded cells.
The Chief Judge has already acted on the request, clearing the way for the swift rollout of the mobile

Good move,His Excellence
