…Hundreds Benefit from Free Medical Outreach
The Ajalaiye of Ipetu-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Dr. Samson Adeleke Agunbiade Oke, has emphasized the crucial role of individuals and organizations in driving community development, stating that no society can progress by relying solely on the government.
The monarch made this assertion on Thursday while receiving a delegation from Lions Club International, led by Engineer Wole Oyewumi, the Constitutional Area 8B Leader overseeing districts in Nigeria and Ghana, alongside a frontline leader of the club, Chief Kolawole Oyekanmi.
The visit was part of an inspection tour of the Lions Comprehensive Eye Care Development Project in Ipetu-Ijesa, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.
Commending the Lions Club for its continuous humanitarian interventions, Oba Agunbiade Oke acknowledged the significant impact of their various initiatives on the lives of residents.

He urged more individuals and organizations to contribute actively to societal development, stressing that solely depending on government support is neither realistic nor sustainable.

In his remarks, Engineer Wole Oyewumi highlighted the importance of traditional rulers and community leaders in fostering social impact.
According to him, Association of Lions Clubs International (Non-Governmental Organization) has the sole aim of giving useful service to the less privileged in our society, meeting humanitarian needs, encouraging peace, and promoting international understanding without expecting any financial reward.
He expressed optimism that, with the warm reception from the monarch and the community, the Lions Club would soon establish a solid and thriving branch in Ipetu-Ijesa, further strengthening their developmental efforts.

Meanwhile, the Outreach Officer, Mrs. Olufunke Odesanmi, confirmed that hundreds of residents in Ipetu-Ijesa benefited from the club’s free medical outreach.
Many of the beneficiaries, particularly the elderly and underprivileged, expressed gratitude to Lions Club International, stating that the initiative had provided much-needed relief, especially for those who struggle to access medical care.

Recall that a similar outreach was conducted in Ijeda-Ijesa a few weeks ago, further reaffirming the Lions Club’s commitment to improving healthcare and overall community welfare in Osun State.
