AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, SENATOR ADEMOLA JACKSON NURUDEEN ADELEKE, EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF OSUN STATE, AND HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH, BARR. JOLA AKINTOLA..‎‎.By Prince Sunday Adewusi

Spread the love

‎‎‎Your Excellency, ‎‎With utmost respect and patriotic concern for the well-being of the people of Ijesaland and Osun State at large, I, Prince Sunday Adewusi, write this open letter to draw your attention, and that of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Barrister Jola Akintola, to the long-abandoned 20-bed Government Hospital at Erin-Ijesa — a project that has remained in a state of neglect for several decades.

‎‎This hospital, initiated during the administration of the late Chief Bola Ige in the old Oyo State between 1979 and 1983, was originally designed to provide quality healthcare for the people of Erin-Ijesa and the surrounding communities. Unfortunately, despite its promising beginning, it has remained uncompleted and unused, even after multiple appeals by community leaders and well-meaning indigenes.‎‎

In a recent report by this medium, the Akinla of Erin-Ijesa, Oba Adeyeba Ayeni had lamented the state of the abandoned hospital, recalling his numerous efforts to attract government attention to the facility. The revered monarch noted that he had reached out to several administrations, including that of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, yet the situation has remained unchanged.‎‎

Your Excellency, you have consistently assured the people of Osun State that your administration will not abandon any worthwhile project initiated by past governments. You have demonstrated a commitment to continuity in governance and inclusive development. It is in that same spirit of fairness and compassion that I humbly appeal to you to kindly look into this matter and ensure the rehabilitation and completion of the Erin-Ijesa hospital project.

‎‎It is far more economical to renovate and complete this existing hospital than to embark on a new project entirely. Beyond its cost-effectiveness, revitalizing this facility will deliver immediate and lasting impact — providing accessible healthcare to thousands of residents while reducing the burden on other nearby medical centers.‎‎

Furthermore, it is important to note that the Olumirin Waterfalls in Erin-Ijesa — a globally recognized UNESCO heritage site — remains a major tourism asset in Osun State.

However, despite Your Excellency’s earlier visit and promise to work on its renovation, the site has regrettably remained untouched a year after. The rehabilitation of both the waterfall area and the nearby hospital would not only complement each other but also position Erin-Ijesa as a center of both healthcare and tourism excellence in the state.‎‎

To the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Barrister Jola Akintola, this appeal bears deeper meaning, as you are an illustrious son of Ijesaland who fully understands the needs of your people . The revitalization of this hospital would be a defining achievement under your watch and a legacy that will forever be remembered with gratitude.‎‎

Your Excellency, the good people of Erin-Ijesa and Ijesaland at large trust in your vision for grassroots development and your unwavering commitment to human welfare. We therefore plead that you direct the Ministry of Health to immediately assess and reactivate this long-abandoned hospital project.‎‎

The people are watching with hope. The traditional ruler has spoken with sincerity. It is now our collective duty to make this long-awaited vision a reality.‎‎May your administration continue to deliver impactful governance and sustainable development to the good people of Osun State.‎‎

With high regards,‎

Prince Sunday Adewusi‎‎‎‎
