N500 Million Development Fund Launch and Weeklong Festivities
The much-anticipated Esa-Oke Day Celebration 2024 is set to kick off on November 3, marking the start of a vibrant week of cultural, religious, educational, and social events that will conclude with a grand finale on November 9.
This year’s celebration aims to honor the heritage of Esa-Oke while fostering its development, as announced in a joint statement by the Owa Omiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, the Asiwaju of Esa-Oke, Asiwaju Dosu Fatokun, and the Esa-Oke Central Union.
The highlight of the celebration will take place on Saturday, November 9, at the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH) main field where A N500 million Development Fund will be launched to support community projects, with a goal of ensuring sustainable growth for Esa-Oke as Chief Oyekunle Alex Duduyemi, OFR, the Asiwaju of Ife, will serve as the Chairman of the Day, bringing his esteemed presence to the occasion.
The celebration week includes a range of activities, beginning on Sunday, November 3, with a community prayer led by the Christian Association of Nigeria at the Palace Open Space. On Monday, November 4, traditional prayers led by the Iseese group will follow. Community members will participate in an Environmental Sanitation Day on Tuesday, November 5, involving cleanup drives, health screenings, and food distributions to assist local families.
Education and Literacy Day will be held on Wednesday, November 6, and will engage secondary school students in debates, quizzes, and career talks. Sports Day will follow on Thursday, November 7, featuring traditional games and sports competitions, including a football match at Esa-Oke Grammar School Field. The day will conclude with a Youth Night, complete with music at the Esa-Oke Roundabout.
On Friday, November 8, a Jumaat Service will be held at the Esa-Oke Central Mosque, followed by a Road Show featuring students, artisans, and entertainers. The evening will conclude with a beauty pageant, an awards ceremony, and live entertainment.
The celebration will culminate on Saturday, November 9, with Cultural Day events, showcasing traditional performances, exhibitions of local crafts, fashion, and food, and the formal launch of the N500 million Development Fund while Chieftaincy titles will also be conferred during the event.
