We celebrate Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi as he attained the enviable age of 70years on planet earth. He is a remarkable and resourceful individual, a pillar of strength, and a beacon of hope for our community. His life, legacy, and unwavering commitment to excellence is worthy of emulation by all his peers, elders and younger ones.
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi hails from a remarkable family with a rich heritage, which he has represented well in Ijesaland and globally. His family background indeed instilled in him a strong sense of integrity, hard work, industry, community service and leadership. His distinguished career as a management consultant spanning over three decades has been successful and impactful. As a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management and the Institute of Management Consultants, he has demonstrated exceptional expertise and leadership in his field. His establishment of Supreme Management Training and Consultancy Services Ltd in 1992 marked the beginning of a Pan-African management consulting firm that has made a significant impact globally.
His academic achievements are equally impressive. With degrees from the University of Ibadan and Obafemi Awolowo University, including a Master’s in Business Administration and Information Science, he has demonstrated a commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth. The founding of Ibadan Business School in 2011 further solidified his dedication to human capital development in Nigeria.
Asiwaju’s philanthropic activities have transformed countless lives. Through the Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi Foundation, he supports over 2,000 students annually, covering their WAEC fees and empowering them for a brighter future. His initiatives also extended to environmental awareness and community development, with the establishment of Ijesa Mineral Resources Development Forum.
One of his most notable contributions to our community is the initiation and raising funds for the building of the ultra-modern Owa Obokun of Ijesaland’s Palace.
He also spearheaded the establishment of the Geriatric Centre Ilesha to which he made a robust financial contribution.
I was privileged to work closely with him on these iconic projects which showcase his commitment to preserving our cultural heritage and promoting community development. His vision and leadership brought these ambitious projects to life, and they stand as a testament to his enduring legacy. What’s truly remarkable about his approach is his willingness to carry others along, even in his affluence. He is known to make persistent phone calls to encourage fellow Ijesa to contribute money to fund projects, demonstrating his commitment to collective progress and community development. This selfless approach has earned him the respect and admiration of many.
His guiding principle in the management of all these projects is accountability and transparency.
This is the major reason people contributed willingly and happily to the projects knowing fully well that all the funds collected will be managed prudently, honestly and transparently. This in fact earned him the nickname “Mr. Transparency”. Another major contribution of Asiwaju is his untiring efforts in ensuring the unity of all the communities and traditional institutions in Ijesaland. He traversed the length and breadth of Ijesaland preaching peace and unity. He also extended these visits to the several Ijesa clubs and societies in diaspora, at his own personal expense, to UK, Europe and North America. It is not an overstatement to say that the unity we are enjoying in Ijesaland today is largely a direct result of his efforts. It is also noteworthy that today thousands of elderly people in Ijesaland are enjoying free medical services through the efforts of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi who mobilised people to contribute money to take medical insurance for the elderly through the National Health Insurance Fund scheme.
Indeed, Asiwaju’s contributions to developments in Ijesaland are too numerous to catalogue and therefore it is appropriate to see him as “GOD’S SPECIAL GIFT TO IJESALAND”.
Asiwaju Fasuyi’s contributions to religion, particularly the Christian faith, are truly noteworthy. He played a significant role in church’s growth and development which earned him recognition and title of Balogun Ijo of Anglican Church Cathedral Omofe, Ilesa. His gift of a building for the Church guest house for the diocese is a testament to his commitment to serving the community and promoting the values of faith on selfless giving and service.
His sense of style is as impressive as his achievements. He dresses flamboyantly and impressively, always presenting himself with flair and confidence. His impeccable taste in attire reflects his vibrant personality and adds to his charismatic presence.
As a committed family man, he had built a loving and supportive home. His marriage to Yeye (Dr.) Olubisi Fasuyi is a beautiful example of love and partnership. Together, they built a career, raised lovely sons and daughters who are a credit to him and his family. His grandchildren bring him joy and fulfilment, and I’m certain that he is grateful for the opportunity to share his wisdom and experience with them.
