The Ilaka family has announced the funeral arrangements for their beloved matriarch, Felicia Aderemi Ilaka (née Roberts), who passed away on August 26, 2024, at the age of 90.
A distinguished community leader and philanthropist, Mrs. Ilaka was fondly remembered as the Iyalode of Oyo, Yeye Lejofi of Ilesha, and Iya Oba Ikeji Ile.
The week-long celebration of her impactful life will commence with a lying-in-state ceremony at her residence on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m., followed by a Service of Songs at the Ilupeju Recreational Hall at 5:00 p.m.
On Thursday, December 19, a Commendation Service will hold at All Saints Church, Yaba, Lagos, at 10:00 a.m.
The Christian Wake for Mama Felicia Aderemi Ilaka is scheduled for the same day at St. Matthew’s Church in Ijebu Ijesa at 5:00 p.m.
The grand funeral service will take place on Friday, December 20, at St. Matthew’s Church, Ijebu Ijesa, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception at Zenababs Half Moon Resort, Ilo Ijesa.
Mrs. Ilaka’s legacy extends beyond her family, as she played a pivotal role in various developmental projects for the Ijesa community.
Notably, the President of the Ijesa Young Women Social Elites, Lagos, led the society to donate two acres of land to the Ijesa Youth Development Foundation.
This generous contribution will facilitate a major youth project aimed at fostering education and skills development for young people in Ijesaland—a vision close to Mrs. Ilaka’s heart.
Community leaders and dignitaries have paid glowing tributes to Mrs. Ilaka, celebrating her life as a symbol of strength, wisdom, and service.
Her dedication to empowering women and youth remains a shining example for generations to come.
