Two distinguished sons of Ijesaland have been appointed to pivotal roles in youth development and healthcare leadership.

The Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Ayodele Olawande, has appointed Mr. Adebusuyi Adeleye as an Ambassador of the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) — a recognition of his unwavering dedication to youth empowerment and grassroots mobilization.

Adeleye, who serves as the Leader of the Osun East Senatorial District Grassroots Youths Forum and is the Immediate Past Vice-President of the Ijesaland Youth Forum, earned this honor following a productive engagement with the minister, where his passion for youth advancement and national development was further acknowledged.

The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference team, in a congratulatory message, described the appointment as “well-deserved”, commending Adeleye’s relentless efforts in fostering youth development across the nation.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Adebusuyi Adeleye on his new role as NiYA Ambassador. His leadership and dedication to empowering young Nigerians make him a perfect fit for this responsibility. We also appreciate the Honourable Minister for recognizing his contributions and look forward to Adeleye’s impact in shaping the future of Nigerian youths,” the statement read.

The Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA), under the Ministry of Youth Development, is an initiative designed to equip young Nigerians with essential skills, mentorship, and growth opportunities.

Adeleye is now tasked with advancing these objectives to ensure more youths benefit from the platform.

In a similar vein of achievement, the Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, has appointed Dr. Olufemi Samuel Smith as the Physician-in-Charge of the Wesley Guild Hospital Unit.

Dr. Smith, a Consultant from the Chemical Pathology Department, assumes this leadership role with immediate effect for an initial period of two years.

The appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Josephine Eziyi, who charged Dr. Smith to ensure “effective and prompt service delivery” at the hospital unit.

Dr. Smith, an alumnus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, obtained his MBBS in 2008.

He further earned an M.Sc. in Immunology from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in 2018 and became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in the same year.

The hospital management expressed confidence in his ability to lead, citing his “broad clinical experience and commitment to quality service” as key attributes that will drive improvements at the Wesley Guild Hospital.

The entire Ijesa community beams with pride as we celebrate two of our own for their outstanding achievements.

Congratulations to Mr. Adebusuyi Adeleye — a beacon of youth leadership and empowerment.

Congratulations to Dr. Olufemi Samuel Smith — an Ijesa gem, now steering a vital healthcare unit.

Indeed, “Ohun a ni laa naani” — We celebrate our own!
