Federal Lawmaker Reaffirms Support for Farmers, Distributes Cocoa Seedlings Across Ijesa South

The member representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanya Omirin, has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering local farmers, describing agriculture as a cornerstone for sustainable economic development.

Hon. Omirin made this known during the distribution of cocoa seedlings to farmers drawn from Atakunmosa East, Atakunmosa West, Ilesa East, and Ilesa West Local Government Areas.

The event, held at the Ijesa South Constituency Office in Ilesa, was a product of a collaborative effort between Hon. Omirin, the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS), and 377 Ollabin Limited.

According to the lawmaker, the initiative is aimed at boosting cocoa production across Ijesaland, with a ripple effect on the local economy and overall development of Ijesaland.

He urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the seedlings, noting that the agricultural sector is brimming with opportunities that can be harnessed for both personal and community advancement.

Also Speaking , Mrs. Akinwade Olufunke and Mrs. Fabowale Folasayo, representatives of the Executive Director of CRIN, Dr. P.O. Adebola commended Hon. Omirin’s efforts, assuring the farmers of CRIN’s continued technical support and commitment to driving innovation in cocoa farming.

In his remarks on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chief Olomola thanked Hon. Omirin for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.

He noted that the gesture would not only uplift farmers in Ijesa South but also play a crucial role in revitalizing the cocoa value chain in Ijesaland.
