FRSC Deploys Personnel Across Ilesa Ahead of Festive Season to Boost Road Safety

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ilesa Unit Command, has launched a special patrol operation to ensure safety on the roads during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The initiative, tagged “Operation Zero Tolerance for Road Crashes,” began on December 15, 2025, and will run through January 15, 2026.

Unit Commander Bashir A. Jimoh told journalists in Ilesa that the FRSC National Headquarters had deployed additional personnel to strategic locations across the country ahead of the festive season to reduce road traffic crashes and protect motorists and pedestrians.

He said Special marshals have also been stationed at critical points within Ilesa to assist regular officers in traffic management and enforcement of road safety regulations.

According to him, The theme of this year’s ember month campaign, “Take Responsibility for Your Safety, Avoid Distraction While Driving,” underscores the dangers of phone use, eating, excessive conversation, and other distractions while driving.

Mr Jimoh explained that FRSC officers are actively patrolling major highways and inner roads to ensure compliance with traffic rules, while public awareness campaigns are ongoing at roundabouts and busy areas to educate road users on safe driving practices.

He urged motorists, especially those traveling into and out of Ilesa for the holidays, to avoid overloading, overspeeding, drunk driving, and other traffic violations, stressing that the FRSC will maintain zero tolerance for all road safety infractions.

The Ilesa FRSC boss emphasized that strict adherence to traffic regulations by all road users is key to achieving a safe, smooth, and accident-free festive season across Ilesa and its environs.
