As parts of efforts to revolutionize Osun State’s Agricultural landscape, Governor Ademola Adeleke, has launched the Imole Agropreneur Project, a landmark initiative aimed at cultivating 31,000 hectares of farmland across the state’s 30 local government areas and area council.

The project, designed to empower farmers and enhance food security, was unveiled during an event held in Imesi Ile, Obokun Local Government Area.

The ceremony was attended by top government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders from Ijesa North federal constituency.

Governor Adeleke highlighted the project’s importance in fostering agricultural prosperity and youth empowerment through modern mechanized farming practices.

Speaking at the launch, the Governor described the Imole Agropreneur Project as a comprehensive approach to farming.

He emphasized that the initiative extends beyond providing tools and materials, incorporating training, skill development, and mentorship for beneficiaries.

“This dual strategy of empowerment and capacity building will equip our youth and women to maximize the resources provided to achieve long-term impact,” he stated.

The Governor also outlined the project’s framework, which requires each local government to allocate a minimum of 1,000 hectares of land for mechanized farming.

Key components include extension services, technical support, and an off-taker program to connect farmers with markets for their produce. Additionally, plans for micro agro-processing platforms targeting export markets were revealed.

Governor Adeleke emphasized the project’s sustainability, encouraging stakeholders to adopt a public-private partnership (PPP) model for effective management.

He cautioned against bureaucratic interference, instructing the Ministry of Agriculture to focus on oversight and technical assistance.

Hon. Tola Fasheru, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, lauded the Governor’s efforts in transforming the agricultural sector.

According to Fasheru, the initiative has laid a strong foundation for agro-mechanization and prosperity, predicting a productive 2025 for Osun farmers.

“Mr. Governor has launched a solid foundation for agro-mechanisation on one hand and agro-prosperity on the other hand,” Fasheru stated.

In a related development, the Owaooye of Imesi Ile, Oba Enoch Ademola, conferred the title of Kiriji Icon of Yorubaland on Governor Adeleke.

The recognition, awarded during a courtesy visit to the royal palace, celebrates the Governor’s contributions to the development of Osun State over the past two years.
