Healthcare Pioneer and Community Leader, Dame Eunice Oreoluwa Kayode Passes On at 84

Nigeria has lost a respected matriarch and notable figure in healthcare and sports development following the death of Dame Eunice Oreoluwa Kayode, popularly known as Mummy Omotayo. She passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 84.

Dame Kayode was widely admired for her decades-long service as the founder and operator of Omotayo Maternity Home, a family-centered healthcare facility she managed for nearly forty years. Through her work, she became a trusted name in maternal care and community support.

A devoted Christian, she served faithfully as a lay preacher at the Methodist Church, Oke Ado, Ibadan where her commitment to service and spiritual discipline earned her the respect of the congregation.

Beyond healthcare, Dame Kayode was also known for her passion for football.

She contributed significantly to sports administration as a board member of Shooting Stars Football Club and the Nigerian Football Authority (now NFF).

Her philanthropy, leadership, and community impact earned her several recognitions, including the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) for her contribution to healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

Fondly remembered for her discipline, kindness, generosity, and simplicity, Dame Kayode remained a pillar in her hometown, Ilare Ijesa, where her charitable acts touched many lives.

The family of Late Dame Eunice Oreoluwa Kayode, has released the following schedule for her final rites:

June 9–11, 2026: Ibadan

June 11, 2026: Ilare Ijesa

June 12–13, 2026: Ilesa

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and an extended family who continue to uphold her legacy of service and compassion.
