Ijebu-Jesa/Ere-Ilahun Bridge: Hon. Oluwole Oke Takes Action, Seeks Collaboration with Osun State Government

In a bid to address growing concerns from residents of Ere and Ilahun about the collapsed bridge on the Ijebujesa/Ere-Ilahun road, Hon. Oluwole Oke, the member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, has assured the public of his commitment to resolving the situation.

The collapsed bridge has significantly hindered mobility in the area, especially for farmers who rely on the road to transport their produce to the market.

To address the issue, The Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs deployed a team of experts, including structural engineers, civil engineers, and quantity surveyors, to inspect the site.

A statement by the Public and Media Communication Unit of Ijesa North Federal Constituency Office said The inspection, which took place on Saturday, 18th January 2025, is expected to produce a detailed report that will guide further actions regarding the repairs.

Honourable Wole Oke said “The need for a motorable road is critical for our farmers to transport their produce to market,” The repair of the bridge is also essential for the economic survival of the community, especially with the rainy season fast approaching.

The Veteran Lawmaker expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the bridge’s collapse, assuring the people of Ere and Ilahun that steps are being taken to prioritize its repair.

He also pledged to work closely with the Osun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, to ensure that the bridge is fixed without further delays.

“I deeply regret the inconvenience caused and assure you that we are now prioritizing its repair. No effort will be spared in ensuring this essential infrastructure is restored,” Hon. Oke said.

The repair of this bridge is crucial for the livelihoods of residents in both Ere and Ilahun. With the rainy season approaching, Hon. Oke reiterated the urgency of the situation and vowed to use all available resources within his purview to ensure that the road is repaired, even if temporarily, to restore mobility for the affected communities.
