Ijesaland Commences Weeklong Celebration for Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi @70

The weeklong celebration of the 70th birthday of the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, will commence on Friday, October 17, 2025, with a Special Jumat Service at the Central Mosque, Ilesa.‎‎

A statement issued by the Chairman, Planning Committee on Media and Publicity, Sir Folu Olamiti indicates that the event, themed around unity, faith, and friendship, is expected to bring together traditional rulers, community leaders, family members, distinguished dignitaries, and well-wishers from across Nigeria and beyond in thanksgiving to Almighty Allah for seven decades of divine grace, good health, and impactful leadership.

‎‎The Jumat service, which begins at 1:00 p.m. with the take-off point at the Oba Adekunle Aromolaran Civic Centre, Ilesa, will set the tone for a series of activities celebrating a man widely regarded as a visionary leader, bridge-builder, philanthropist, and unifier, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi The Asiwaju of Ijesaland.‎‎

High Chief Saka Fapohunda, the Ogboni of Ilesa, serves as the chief coordinator of the event, while a Post-Jumat Reception will follow immediately after the service at the Oba Adekunle Aromolaran Civic Centre, starting at 2:30 p.m. ‎‎

The reception, coordinated by Chief (Mrs.) Erelu Jumoke Olafadehan, promises to be a moment of joy, camaraderie, and heartfelt tributes, celebrating Asiwaju Fasuyi’s humility, excellence, and faith-driven life of service.‎‎

As the day transitions into the evening, attention will shift to the Ijesa Sports Club, Ilesa, where an Evening of Camaraderie will hold in honour of the celebrant. ‎‎

The event, which starts at 5:00 p.m., will be hosted under the coordination of Hon. Kenneth Opebiyi.‎‎

Founded in 1977, the Ijesa Sports Club has long stood as a symbol of unity and social harmony in Ijesaland.‎‎ As a Patron of the Club, Asiwaju Fasuyi’s steadfast commitment to community development and social wellness will be celebrated by friends, associates, and community leaders in an atmosphere of laughter, goodwill, and reflection.

‎‎From the solemn prayers of the mosque in the afternoon to the convivial fellowship of the club in the evening, Day One of AOF @ 70 captures the essence of Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi — a leader who prays with all, celebrates with all, and serves all.‎‎
