The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has formally announced his official title ahead of the conclusion of the traditional seclusion (Ipebi) rites.
In a statement issued from the palace on Sunday, it was revealed that the new Owa should be addressed as:
HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, OWA CLEMENT ADESUYI HAASTRUP, AJIMOKO III, OWA OBOKUN ADIMULA, AND THE PARAMOUNT RULER OF IJESALAND.
The announcement, made on behalf of the Coronation Committee by Chief Shola Oshunkeye, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-committee, emphasized that the Paramount Ruler should be addressed accordingly in all correspondences and communications.
Oshunkeye, a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (FNGE), noted that the clarification is intended “to forestall any ambiguity and discordance in reportage, correspondences, and communications on all matters concerning the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland.”
“The Palace appreciates maximum cooperation on this matter,” the statement concluded.
