
Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, has installed Professor Samuel Iyiola Oni as the new Oba Odo of Ilesa.
This comes following the removal of the erstwhile Oba Odo, Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi.
The Oba Odo of Ilesa is one of the Iwarefa (the first 6-highest ranking Kingmakers of Ijesaland) and serves as the Secretary of the Iwarefa, which plays a crucial role in governance and succession matters within Ijesaland.
Professor Oni, a distinguished academic and renowned transport expert, now steps into this revered traditional office.
He is an Alumnus of Ilesa Grammar School, Ilesa and a Professor of Geography at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), specializing in Transportation, Logistics, and Spatial Planning.
He currently serves as Director of the Multi-Modal Transport Centre at UNILAG.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (FILT) and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors (FNIS).
He is also the author of the widely acclaimed book Nigeria Transportation System, considered a benchmark reference in the field.



His selection and installation to the titleholder of Oba Odo of Ilesa is widely regarded as a fusion of intellectual excellence and traditional authority, expected to usher in a new era of peace, development, and accountability in Ijesaland.
