SAFEGUARDING OUR IDENTITY: A CALL TO CELEBRATE IWUDE IJESA By Prince Sunday Adewusi

Spread the love

Iwude Ijesa is more than a festival. It is the heartbeat of our identity—the mirror that reflects who we are as a people: bold, united, culturally rich, and deeply connected to our royal heritage. At a time when many communities across the world struggle to preserve tradition, we in Ijesaland must remain true to our values and to the legacy handed down to us.

This is why I, Prince Sunday Adewusi, the Otun Aare Egbe Bobakeye Okunrin Adimula, proudly call on every Ijesa—both at home and in the diaspora—to rise with honour, unity, and pride as we prepare for the grand Ijesa Unity Carnival, part of the events marking Iwude-Ijesa celebration.

Under the revered leadership of His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, the festival will continue to shine as a symbol of peace, progress, and cultural continuity. And with the support of our Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, this year’s celebration promises to be one of the most memorable in history.

Date: Sunday, 21st December 2025

This is our heritage. This is our pride. This is our moment.

Let us come together—men, women, youth, elders, organisations, clubs, and societies—to show the world the strength of Ijesa unity. Let us fill the arena with our colours, our songs, our dances, and our deep love for the land of Owa Obokun.

When we stand together, we honour our ancestors. When we celebrate together, we inspire the generations after us.

When we uphold Iwude-Ijesa, we keep our truth alive.

Let us uphold our heritage.Let us preserve our culture.

Let us proudly celebrate Iwude-Ijesa.
