Ijesaland can achieve remarkable progress if our representatives in the National Assembly of Nigeria and the Osun State House of Assembly double their efforts for its development.
Ijesaland, known for its rich cultural heritage and industrious people, has the potential to become a beacon of progress and prosperity in Nigeria. However, this potential can only be realized if our elected representatives prioritize the region’s development.
Firstly, youth development should come first. Establishing a well-equipped Ijesa stadium and supporting sports programs will engage the youth positively, promoting physical health and teamwork, and possibly uncovering local talent that can compete at national and international levels. By pushing for the establishment of more schools and vocational training centers, and by improving existing educational facilities, our representatives can ensure that the youth of Ijesaland are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed for the future. Scholarships and grants for higher education should also be made more accessible to deserving students.
Secondly, improving infrastructure is essential. Good roads, reliable electricity, and efficient water supply systems are the backbone of any thriving community. Our representatives must advocate for and secure funding for infrastructure projects that will enhance the quality of life for all Ijesa people. These projects will also attract businesses and investors, creating jobs and boosting the local economy.
In this regard, we must also appreciate our governor for the ongoing construction project of the Roundabout Oke-Esa, Imo Brewery Express Dual Carriageway. Such projects are vital in connecting communities and improving transportation within Ijesaland.
Healthcare is another critical area. Our representatives must work tirelessly to upgrade healthcare facilities, ensuring they are well-equipped and staffed with qualified professionals. Access to quality healthcare services is fundamental to the well-being of the community and will reduce the burden of preventable diseases.
Furthermore, our representatives should support initiatives that promote agriculture, which is the mainstay of Ijesaland’s economy. Providing farmers with modern tools, training, and access to markets can significantly boost agricultural productivity and sustainability.
Additionally, promoting tourism can be a game-changer for Ijesaland. Our representatives should lobby for the preservation and promotion of our cultural heritage sites, festivals, and natural attractions. Developing tourism infrastructure will attract visitors from far and wide, bringing economic benefits to the region.
Lastly, fostering a business-friendly environment is crucial. Our representatives must advocate for policies that support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), encourage entrepreneurship, and attract investment. By creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, Ijesaland can become a hub of economic activity.
In conclusion, Ijesaland holds immense potential for development and prosperity. To achieve this vision, our representatives in the National Assembly and the Osun State House of Assembly must redouble their efforts. Prioritizing youth development, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, business-friendly policies, and security—including addressing cult clashes—is essential. With dedicated leadership and strategic investments in these areas, Ijesaland can emerge as a beacon of progress and opportunity for generations to come. The time for decisive action is now, and together, we can build a safer, more prosperous future for all.
