University of Ilesa Matriculates 3000 students for 2024/2025 Academic Session

The University of Ilesa, Osun State has matriculated 3000 newly admitted students who sought admission into the institution for the current academic session.

In his address to the new students at the matriculation ceremony held at the University Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu congratulated them on their admission and emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and adherence to university regulations as they embark on their academic journey.

He described the university as a “rule-ordered environment” where students are expected to follow established norms and procedures to achieve academic success.

Professor Asaolu highlighted the institution’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment, equipped with modern facilities such as libraries, lecture halls, and laboratories.

The Vice Chancellor also emphasized the university’s core values of integrity, excellence, and loyalty, which align with its vision of contributing to sustainable national development and achieving global relevance.

Professor Asaolu advised students to complete all registration processes immediately to avoid falling prey to scammers.

He reiterated the mandatory requirement of attending at least 75% of lectures to be eligible for examinations, stressing the importance of continuous assessment and active participation in academic activities.

The welfare and safety of the university community were also addressed, with Professor Asaolu assuring students of adequate security measures and modern sporting facilities to enhance their mental and physical well-being.

He encouraged students to join only duly registered social and religious groups while warning against cultism, hooliganism, and other forms of indiscipline.

Professor Asaolu further urged off-campus students to maintain cordial relationships with their host communities and assured them of ongoing efforts to expand on-campus accommodation.

He also reminded students of the university’s motto, “Knowledge, Virtue, Wisdom,” and the importance of discipline and character in earning their degrees.

As the students took the matriculation oath, the Vice-Chancellor warned that any breach of the university’s rules and regulations would attract severe sanctions, including suspension or dismissal.

He expressed optimism that the new students would be worthy ambassadors of the University of Ilesa and make the institution proud through their academic and personal conduct.
